Materials is at the core of many of the research activities of MEDeng, we
have many on-going projects focused on the developing and manufacturing of
biomaterials and drug-biomaterial combinations for therapeutic use in
neurological, ocular, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal applications. This
research activity is highly multidisciplinary as understanding the biological
interaction at the device-tissue interface is key to the efficacy of the
biomaterials and medical devices in vivo.
- Across
the different departments in APT, we have on-going projects developing organic
and non-organic materials for different applications. These include conductive
polymers for wearable sensors and 3D circuit design, as well as metal alloys
for additive manufacturing and enhanced heat exchange. (APT@DCU)
