The aim of Timber Construction course is to provide students the ability of analising, conceiving and designing timber structures.
In Timber Construction students will understand the behaviour of wood and commonly used wood based panels, namely regarding its internal structure, anisotropy, strength.
The design methods for beams, columns (including instability), pavements are pressented. The fire behaviour of timber is also a key issue that students learn.
Acquisition of knowledge on the physical aspects, of the interfaces and of the interactions in the marine and coastal areas through the hydrodynamic marine and of the coastal hydromorphology.
Study of the interaction phenomenons of the agitation (wave propagation to shore) with the solid borders and structures.
Initiation to the conception, design, execution and observation of several marine and port structures.
Provide students with theoretical and applied training in the field of steel and composite structures by giving them supplements on the detailing on such structures.
Course objectives:
Apply the health and safety concepts.
Apply the health and safety legal requirements.
Apply the methodologies of risk assessment and risk management.
Analyse construction processes and apply risk assessment methodologies,
To know, develop and implement risk prevention techniques to the construction processes during the design, the execution and use phase.
Link the construction management and planning with the health and safety risk prevention.
Course objectives:
Acquiring skills for design and coordination of road infrastructure projects
Understand the methodologies for choose the geometric characteristics of freeways
To perform geometric design of linear nfrastructures by dedicated software applications
Acquiring skills for rail and road operation management
Fundamentals of airport geometric design and standards
Fundamentals of airport pavements design
Asset management for roads and airports.
The course Water Systems in Buildings has as main objective to provide the students of competences in the fields of design, installation, operation, monitoring and rehabilitation of water sistems in buildings. This course focuses on water supply systems, water distribution systems, wastewater and rainwater drainage systems, and on active water fire-fighting systems. At the end of this course students should be able to design water services systems in buildings based on technical requirements and following existing regulation and standards.
Application procedure is similar to mobility applications, that is, candidates are either appointed by their institutions of origin or the candidate addresses directly the International Office that guides the candidate and contacts the candidate’s institution of origin. Application may be done on paper, by post and by email and is checked by the International Office.
What are the necessary documents?
- application form
- learning agreement signed by the candidate and the institutions of origin
- transcript of records
- photocopy of valid personal identification document (ID card or passport)
