We look forward to discussing with you and the MS Christophidou three key questions regarding the future of European Universities.

  1. Is Europe ready to truly innovate its higher education?
European Universities are the change agents for the European Education Area. ECIU university is a frontrunner with bold educational innovations like challenge-based learning, cross-border micro-credentials and the development of a European degree. Is Europe ready to support these types of educational innovations?
  2. What support from Horizon Europe do European Universities need to excel?
European universities need a research mission to be full-fledged universities. Moreover, they are perfectly placed to raise the competitiveness of the European Research Area. How should this research support look like?
  3. How to realise European base funding to establish sustainable European universities?
To establish a European University, long-term commitment is essential. The EU has our long-term commitment, but the pilot funding only lasts for three years. At the moment, it is unclear how a follow-up will look like. We cannot use our students as a test case. We need clarity about what will happen after 2022 to move towards an integral financial model for European universities. How would this look like?
