The University of Aveiro hereby publicly announces the opening of a call for applications for the position of Rector.
The Rector is the University's highest governing and external representative body and chairs the Management Board and the Scientific and Pedagogical Councils. The Rector leads the institutional policy, he directs and represents the University and acts on its behalf, being elected by the General Council, for a four-year term and performing his functions under full exclusivity.
Applications for the position of Rector are open to professors or researchers of the University of Aveiro, as well as of other university-level or research institutions, national or foreign, currently in office, and which are not affected by any ineligibility or incompatibility according to the law.
The Rector must be a personality of high merit and recognized experience while performing teaching and or research activities and while in management positions, in higher education or scientific research institutions. They must have a strategic vision, reflected in an action plan which will ensure the accomplishment of the mission and attributions of the University, and the language skills to carry out the respective position.
Applications must be addressed, in Portuguese, to the President of the General Council, in paper or digital support, and may be delivered to the secretariat or sent by mail, fax or email as indicated: https://www.ua.pt/pt/conselhogeral/

The application deadline is April 12th, 2022, and only applications actually received by that date will be considered. The deadline for receipt of documentation is 5:30pm for paper formats, and 11:59pm for files sent in digital format.
