PhD Summer School focuses on development of key competences required for achieving best results in successful writing and defense of the doctoral dissertation and identifying further research directions. Our summer school provides an opportunity for intellectually curiuos doctoral students to explore new knowledge, to expend cultural awareness and to exchange experience.
Special offer for ECIU doctoral students: 350 euros (regular fee: 380 euros)
This summer school will focus on RNA viruses and their molecular interactions with the host cell. During these four days course, participants will have the opportunity to learn how these viruses replicate, how they take advantage of their host immune system. Participants will also learn how these viruses emerge and how antiviral remedies and vaccines are developed.
The course will include hands-on practical classes on standard and state-of-the-art virology techniques, lectures from international renowned scientists, discussions workshops and social activities in the beautiful city of Aveiro, Portugal.

The Summer School in Psychological Humanities and Narrative Medicine (PsyHuman) is based on the idea that narrative-based, subject-centred and culture-bound approaches of the humanities and arts can complement clinical psychology and bio-medical sciences, in order to comprehend illness and trauma, to promote health and well-being, and to build inclusive societies and affective communities.
By comprising psychological, medical, scientific but also literary, cultural, aesthetic and sociological studies, the PsyHuman summer school fosters an integrated model of health promotion and a conceptualisation of the experience of illness and trauma as at once evidence-based/objective/universal and personal/subjective/unique.
It also aims at exploring the role of narrative-based and intersectional models oh healthcare in developing life skills that can be beneficial in times of strain (such as stress-coping capacity, resilience, and empathy).
A maximum of 2 ECIU students are free of charge (selected among other ECIU students, on the basis of merit, academic profile and motivation letter)

UAB Barcelona Summer School comprises a training offer of undergraduate subjects in a range of fields, and takes place from late June to the end of July once the ordinary academic year is over.
The courses are mostly taught in English where students could earn from 6 to 12 ECTS in two 3-week periods.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuous changing of contingency measures, UAB is prepared to adjust course teaching to completely virtual, as was achieved successfully in summer 2020 and 2021.
Students from ECIU University partners will get two options:
1. Student from each university will get a tuition fee waiver of two courses, one of each period, which means student will earn up to 12ECTS.
2. Students from each university will get a tuition fee waiver of one course, which means, the two students will earn up to 6ECTS. The rest of ECIU University members’ students will get 20% of the regular tuition fee.
This Winter School will provide participants with an interdisciplinary program aimed at understanding the rise of populist, nationalist and sovereignist politics and their impact on gender equality across European countries. The lectures will tackle a variety of topics such as: the politics of human rights; populism and sovereignism; the globalization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) rights; gender and migration; gender and radical right parties.

This Winter School will offer students in several disciplines both methods and tools to design and conduct sample surveys in many fields, such as socio-economics, web analytics and environmental studies, among others. The approach to the topic will combine methodological issues with all aspects related to practical applications.
