ECIU University seeks a Community Coordinator to develop and support community engagement and networking within the ECIUn-PLUS-2 project and the wider ECIU University ecosystem.

ECIU University promotes active community engagement through networking opportunities, events, communication activities and initiatives that connect stakeholders across institutional and geographical boundaries. Attention is given to strengthening relationships between different communities within the alliance and supporting their meaningful involvement in ECIU University activities.

ECIU University seeks to build strong and lasting connections with external stakeholders, including businesses, public authorities, civil society organisations, and other partners, to address shared opportunities and societal challenges. Creating and sustaining an active European ecosystem therefore requires deliberate community-building efforts that connect learners, staff, researchers, institutional representatives, and external stakeholders around shared opportunities and societal challenges. The Community Coordinator exists to strengthen these connections and support the development of vibrant communities within and across the ECIU University ecosystem

This vacancy is for a 0.5 FTE to be filled by a staff member from inside the ECIUn-PLUS-2 project partner universities, for a 2-year period from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2028, 

You will join the ECIU University Central Support Capacity (CSC), an international and committed team working together to build and develop ECIU University as a European University Alliance. Working closely with institutional Community Managers and other relevant teams, the Community Coordinator supports a coherent approach to community development across the ECIU University ecosystem. This role helps create opportunities for participation, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among ECIU University members while strengthening engagement with external stakeholders from the wider innovation ecosystem. Through this role, ECIU University fosters a stronger sense of belonging, engagement, and shared purpose across its European and stakeholder communities.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Coordinate the development of an inclusive and connected ECIU University community across partner institutions and stakeholder groups while supporting collaboration across community-building activities undertaken within ECIUn-PLUS-2 work packages and other ECIU University projects.
  • Support and empower the network of institutional Community Managers through shared approaches, tools, and digital infrastructures.
  • Foster community-building initiatives that promote participation, collaboration, knowledge exchange, and a sense of belonging across the Alliance and its wider ecosystem.
  • Monitor community needs, engagement, and emerging opportunities to inform community development activities.

Qualifications

  • You have experience of working with people, networks, projects, partnerships, or stakeholder groups and enjoy creating opportunities for collaboration and exchange. 
  • You are proactive, curious, and able to identify shared interests and bring people together around common goals. 
  • You are comfortable working across organisational, disciplinary, and cultural boundaries and are motivated to strengthen connections within the ECIU University community and with external partners. 
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in supporting engagement, participation, and community-building.

Please note that this position will be hosted in different organizational contexts within the alliance. The workplace will be located at one of the ECIU University member universities. A travel budget is available for this role.
