On September 29-30, 18 student representatives from across ECIU University gathered for the fifth ECIU Student Council meeting in Łódź (Poland). The two-day summit focused on establishing the Council’s internal structure, electing delegates, and defining long-term goals – in accordance with the ECIU Vision 2030.
The meeting agenda included co-creating action plans in education, digital, community, and communication areas, establishing internal processes for student representation and coordination, creating a basis for collaboration with other student groups, and discussing future community-building projects.
As part of the meeting, new student leadership was elected, with changes to 8 key positions:
The delegates will now work to ensure continuity of work within the Student Council, representation in ECIU governance, and alignment with the ECIUn+ project goals and Vision 2030 priorities.
'I am honoured to represent students in this collaboration, which promotes flexible, challenge-based and student-centred learning across borders,' shares the newly elected board member Marija Pedersen. 'Through my role, I want to ensure that the student perspective continues to shape ECIU University's development and that more students at UiS and across Europe can benefit from the opportunities it offers.'
During the discussions, the Council members also established priorities and projects to focus on in the upcoming months. This included new community-building events, improving the accessibility of ECIU University courses and ECTS, enhanced communication with staff and students, and more.
'The experience exchange and discussions held in Łódź this year were invaluable, to put it simply,’ says Gonçalo Lourenço. ‘Putting students in the centre of the educational process, as well as the pathway to a more cooperative network of European Universities, is essential to the vision of a proper and well-developed future for Higher Education.’
The next meeting of the Student Council is set for December, with members planning to discuss the latest updates and future plans.
