Project overview

CLEAN-6G focuses on enhancing wireless communication network performance through advanced technologies like cell-free massive MIMO (CF-mMIMO), while maintaining strict adherence to electromagnetic field (EMF) safety limits, ensuring both human health and consistent connectivity. CF-mMIMO systems rely on distributed antennas that work collaboratively to serve users, offering enhanced coverage, capacity, and spectral efficiency, however, the widespread deployment of these antennas introduces the need to manage EMF exposure. CLEAN-6G aims to solve the challenge of optimizing the performance of CF-mMIMO networks, considering varying constraints across regions with different regulations, infrastructure, population densities, and levels of urbanization.  Stakeholders, including the Dublin City Council Telecom Unit, regulatory bodies and network operators, will help address project constraints, while dissemination efforts will promote awareness and adoption of safe, efficient 6G solutions.
