Project overview

The Nordic and Baltic regions face significant online threats from hostile actors who use disinformation campaigns to incite radicalization, marginalization and societal polarization. Their proximity to geopolitical tensions makes them especially vulnerable, highlighting the need to protect societies and critical infrastructure. Strengthening digital literacy, increasing public awareness, and implementing advanced technological tools are essential to counteract these destabilizing threats. The FORTRESS initiative seeks to address these challenges by promoting multidisciplinary research, education and collaboration among participating ECIU partners. It focuses on three key aspects: Citizens, Technology, and Processes. FORTRESS aims to improve community resilience holistically by fostering both physical and virtual knowledge-sharing.
