Visiting Students - EUR 1500,00; Fee waivers may apply in the case of student exchange schemes like Erasmus; Students wishing to do a single course unit from an Exchange Package can opt to apply for “isolated course units” where the fees range from €40,00 - €60.00 per ECTS credit, depending on subject area.

The Courses

Statistical Data Analysis - 6 ECTS

The aims of the course are to teach basic ideas of sampling from an applied perspective and to provide experience with life-like problems. The course will cover the main techniques used in sampling practice with concomitant resort to software like Excel and SPSS, among others.

These methods will be examined further in the context of categorical data in the sense of contingency tables, all with view towards application to real life data.

Combinatorics And Graphs - 6 ECTS

The main aim of the course is to achieve a capacity which allows to establish relations between combinatorics and graph theory, the development of techniques of application and deduction of results associated to these two areas, both with relevant implications in the different domains of applied mathematics. The main topics include partial ordered sets; Divisibility and modular arithmetic including Euclides algorithm, Euler and Mobius function, Congruenca relations etc.

Linear Optimisation - 6 ECTS

At the end of the module the students should have acquired the foundations and techniques of Linear Programming and will be able to formulate Linear Programming models, applying simplex-like techniques and extensions to the resolution of these problems and applying pos-optimization and sensitivity analysis to the solution obtained.

Linear Control Systems - 6 ECTS

The aim of this course is to give a basic knowledge in the area of mathematical linear systems theory that enables:

- to perform the analysis of a system dynamics

- to design simple controllers for dynamical systems described by linear models

Algebra - 6 ECTS

This course provides complementary studies in abstract algebra.

How to apply

Application procedure is similar to mobility applications, that is, candidates are either appointed by their institutions of origin or the candidate addresses directly the International Office that guides the candidate and contacts the candidate’s institution of origin. Application may be done on paper, by post and by email and is checked by the International Office.

What are the necessary documents?

- application form

- learning agreement signed by the candidate and the institutions of origin

- transcript of records

- photocopy of valid personal identification document (ID card or passport)
