FAQ’s

WHO is INVITED?

The SMART-ER project opens a series of webinars, inviting researchers from the ECIU Community to present their current projects, focusing on those contributions in which Citizen Science has a relevant component. The Series of Webinars is expected to attract researchers from all the stages of their careers, with experience in Citizen Science, but also those who are not having the experience yet, but needing a Citizen Science Component in their current research while being ready to present a clear approach to it.

HOW does IT WORK?

The webinars take place in September, October and November 2021, on Monday at 10.30h, and last for 75 minutes. The webinars will introduce 4 different teams from different ECIU Universities, presenting their current research in slots of 10 minutes. After all the presentations, there will be an open turn for questions and debate.

WILL the WEBINARS BE OPEN and RECORDED?

The webinars will be open to all the ECIU community. They will be recorded, edited if needed and published into the SMART-ER webpage with open access to all the public, as a tool for providing increased visibility to the projects.

WHICH ARE the OBJECTIVES?

The objective of this action is twofold:

  1. On the one hand, to boost a strong Community on Citizen Science within the ECIU Consortium.
  2. On the other hand, to identify potential lines of collaboration between projects and foster the creation of SMART-ER trans-national pilots in Citizen Science.

WHAT ARE the SMART-ER TRANS-NATIONAL PILOTS in CITIZEN SCIENCE?

During Q2-2022, ECIU University will support the development of at least 2 pilot projects focused on Citizen Science, for a maximum length of 18 months. These pilots will receive funding by ECIU for activities related to Citizen Science actions. The context of these pilots will be widely focused on SDG11, and they are expected to serve as a way of putting together the ECIU’s Community in a Citizen-centric approach for knowledge generation, promoting the collaboration between ECIU members. The pilots can also be viewed as an excellent opportunity to spark the consolidation of strong consortia and align strategies for applying to further funding, if the pilots are successful! The Series of Webinars will be the first step to put this Community of researchers in contact.
